ANNOUNCEMENT #2

Welcome to the USD Writing Center's online platform! Due to the ever changing events involving USD's campus closures, we have made our services available online. We thank you for visiting us today and remind you to be safe, and keep writing!

If you have never used the myWCOnline system, please register for an account by clicking, “Register for an Account.” Returning users can access the system by entering their username and password in the available fields.

Upon logging in, please select the schedule for "Fall 2020 - Online Consulting." There, you will be able to reserve an appointment in any available white box. Appointments that have already been reserved are marked in blue. Appointments that you have already reserved are marked in yellow.

Given our new online platform, once you have reserved an appointment, please return to myWCOnline at least 5 minutes before your session is set to begin in the myWCOnline scheduling system. At that time, select your appointment and you will be directed to your online synchronous session.

(If you experience any technical difficulty while trying to access your session, you can email us at writingcenter@sandiego.edu and request a phone call for assistance.)

ANNOUNCEMENT #3

ATTENTION: ARE YOU LOOKING TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A TUTOR FROM THE LCL DEPARTMENT? Their schedules may only be accessed by using the url links from their individual USD webpages.

The USD Writing Center, which is free to all USD students, helps students improve their academic writing. Students may bring work in any stage of completion to the Writing Center, from brainstorming notes to rough drafts to graded essays. Students are tutored individually by their peers in all phases of the writing process, including:

understanding a text

thinking critically

generating paper topics

developing and focusing ideas

organizing information

refining and expanding ideas

grammar and punctuation

Our staff includes tutors experienced in working with students for whom English is a second language and with graduate students working on small and large writing projects.

All Writing Center tutors are recommended by USD faculty. Tutors study a wide variety of academic majors. All tutors must complete an intensive initial training program before they begin work in the Center. Tutors also attend weekly training workshops throughout the semester.

Although tutors won't "fix" your paper, they are experts in helping you meet your goals for all your written projects.
